In-depth Analysis
In the previous round, both Sevilla and Real Madrid enjoyed victories. Sevilla overcame Villarreal, while Real Madrid comfortably defeated Oviedo to maintain their second-place position in the 2025/26 La Liga standings.
However, the situation for the two teams is now completely different. Real Madrid have virtually wrapped up their season, securing second place and having little left to play for in the final two rounds. In contrast, Sevilla, despite sitting 12th with 43 points, are still not fully safe from relegation.
The gap between the Andalusian side and the relegation zone is just four points — not enough to feel secure with two matches remaining. If Sevilla were to lose both remaining games, while Mallorca and Levante (both on 39 points) win theirs, relegation to the Segunda División remains a real possibility.
What concerns Sevilla fans even more is their next opponent: Real Madrid. Sevilla’s recent form has also been inconsistent, with only four wins in their last 10 matches, and their home performances have been far from convincing.
Although Real Madrid have not been particularly dominant away from home, with five wins in their last 10 away games, the Spanish giants have still completely dominated Sevilla in recent meetings. In fact, Real are unbeaten in the last 10 encounters, winning eight and drawing two.
Moreover, in their last six visits to Sevilla, Real Madrid have never lost, recording five wins and one draw. Given the gap in quality and the long-standing dominance in this fixture, Sevilla could once again be in for a difficult night against the capital club.
