In-depth Analysis
In the previous round, Leeds United earned an encouraging draw away at Tottenham, while Brighton continued their impressive form with a convincing 3-0 victory over Wolves. Those results have created two very different situations for the clubs in the 2025/26 Premier League standings.
Leeds currently sit 14th with 44 points and have virtually secured their Premier League survival. The Elland Road side also have little left to fight for, as the gap to the European qualification spots is simply too large. Meanwhile, Brighton occupy seventh place with 53 points â a position that would secure qualification for next seasonâs Conference League.
However, Brightonâs ambitions certainly do not stop there. With two rounds still remaining in the Premier League, Fabian Hurzelerâs side remain in contention for a Europa League spot and can even dream of sneaking into the Champions League for the 2026/27 season.
At the moment, Brighton trail Bournemouth and Aston Villa by just two and six points respectively. Of course, to pull off a remarkable push into the top four, Brighton must win both of their remaining matches while also hoping the teams above them slip up.
Still, before thinking about miracles, Brighton first need to take care of business against Leeds. The hosts are currently on a solid five-match unbeaten run, but Brighton have also maintained consistent form with three wins, one draw, and only one defeat over the same period.
More importantly, the head-to-head record strongly favors Brighton. In the last 10 meetings between the two sides, Brighton have won six, drawn three, and lost only once to Leeds. Even at Elland Road, Brighton have enjoyed plenty of success, winning five of their last 10 away matches there. Given their current form and confidence, it would not be surprising to see Brighton walk away with all three points once again.
