Bayern Munich under Vincent Kompany continue to show the image of a dominant force in the Bundesliga this season. With a highly explosive attack, the Bavarian giants have established a comfortable gap in the title race. With only eight matches remaining in the 2025/26 campaign, Bayern have extended their lead to nine points over Dortmund, their closest direct challenger. The foundation of that dominance lies in their incredible attacking output, having scored 93 goals so far this season.
However, Bayern’s momentum in the Bundesliga was slightly halted after their draw against Leverkusen last weekend. More notably, that match also brought squad concerns, as two key players, Luis Diaz and Nicolas Jackson, were both sent off and will therefore miss this upcoming fixture. Even so, that draw does little to overshadow Bayern’s remarkable consistency, as they have suffered only one defeat in the Bundesliga all season — a 1-2 loss to Augsburg on January 24. With their current form, the Bavarian giants still have every reason to target another full three-point haul.
Bayern’s confidence is further strengthened by the fact that Allianz Arena has truly become a fortress. Kompany’s side are currently on a five-match winning streak at home, most recently crushing Atalanta 4-1 in the Champions League a few days ago. Before that, they had also dismantled Monchengladbach by the same 4-1 scoreline on March 6, highlighting both their consistency and formidable strength whenever they play on home soil.
On the other side, Union Berlin endured a difficult start to 2026, going seven consecutive matches without a win, including four draws and three defeats. Even so, two victories in their last four matches have helped Steffen Baumgart’s men regain some balance. Most recently, Die Eisernen edged Freiburg 1-0 to climb to 9th place in the table with 31 points, while also opening up a seven-point gap over St. Pauli, who currently occupy the Bundesliga relegation play-off spot.
That recent win will certainly boost Union Berlin’s confidence, especially with Bayern Munich not at full strength. Nevertheless, a trip to Allianz Arena remains one of the toughest challenges for any team, and given the current balance of power, the capital club are still likely to face a very difficult 90 minutes under immense pressure from the league leaders.
