Chelsea, although still in the top 6, are going through a worrying dip in form ahead of their home clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge early on Sunday morning. It is fair to say that the current situation of the Blues is quite unstable and lacks the consistency they need.
Since taking over, head coach Liam Rosenior has only managed 10 wins from 21 matches across all competitions, including just 4 victories in the Premier League. Aside from a few standout performances, much of the recent period has been disappointing for the fans, highlighted by a heavy 0–3 defeat to Manchester City in Round 32.
On the other hand, Manchester United have shown clear improvement since Michael Carrick was appointed manager. The Red Devils are almost certain to finish in the top 5, with their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League looking strong.
However, the Manchester side have recently gone two consecutive games without a win (1 draw, 1 loss), with a 1–2 defeat to Leeds at Old Trafford in the previous round sounding an alarm. United must quickly recover if they want to return to winning ways.
At present, MU are 9 points behind Manchester City and have almost no chance of challenging for a top-two finish in the Premier League. Nevertheless, they can still secure a top-three position if they defeat Chelsea in the upcoming match.
