Brighton have endured an inconsistent season, recording seven wins, nine draws and seven defeats after 23 Premier League matches. Notably, since the beginning of December, the Seagulls have been among the leagueâs poorest performers, collecting just eight points from ten games, with only one victory, five draws and four losses. During this period, only Burnley and Wolves have picked up fewer points than Brighton.
Fabian Hurzelerâs side began 2026 with a convincing 2-0 home win over Burnley at the Amex Stadium. However, they soon lost momentum, drawing 1-1 in consecutive matches against Manchester City and Bournemouth before suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat away to Fulham last weekend. In that match, Brighton squandered a one-goal lead and conceded a decisive goal in the 92nd minute. This poor run of results has seen Brighton drop to 12th place in the table with 30 points, six points adrift of the Top 6.
Nevertheless, a return to the Amex this weekend offers Brighton renewed hope, as they have been strong at home this season, picking up 20 of their 30 Premier League points there. The Seagulls have lost just one of their 11 home league matches (five wins, five draws), with the only defeat being a 4-3 loss to Aston Villa in early December. However, victory over Everton is far from guaranteed, as Brighton have failed to beat the Toffees in their last five home meetings (two draws, three losses) since a 3-2 win in October 2019.
Meanwhile, Everton have also shown inconsistent form, winning two, drawing three and losing three of their last eight Premier League games. The Toffees impressed with a 1-0 away victory over Aston Villa, but then disappointed by drawing 1-1 at home against Leeds in the most recent round. Even so, David Moyesâ men remain firmly in contention for European qualification next season, sitting 10th in the table with 33 points, three points ahead of Brighton and just three points behind the Top 6.
