In-depth Analysis
In the last five La Liga rounds, Valencia have suffered only one defeat, a 1-2 loss away to powerhouse Atletico Madrid in the most recent match. However, this result has not fully reassured the Batsâ fans, as in the four unbeaten games prior to that clash, Carlos Corberanâs side recorded just one win and three draws.
Currently, Valencia sit 17th in the La Liga standings, only above relegation-zone leaders Girona on goal difference. If they fail to capitalize on their home advantage to secure all three points in the early fixture of round 17, the Bats risk slipping even closer to the bottom of the table â a scenario Corberan and his players are eager to avoid.
Therefore, Valencia must seize the opportunity to play at Mestalla and defeat Mallorca at all costs. In reality, their opponents are not particularly strong, having won only two of their last six domestic matches, including a recent 0-1 defeat away to Deportivo in the Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey. At present, the island club sit just two points above Valencia and three places higher in the standings.
Notably, Mallorca struggle badly on the road. Statistics show that in their last 12 away trips in La Liga, they have managed only one win, two draws, and suffered nine defeats. With such poor away form, Jagoba Arrasateâs men will find it hard to travel confidently to Mestalla this weekend.
It is also worth remembering that Mestalla has never been a comfortable destination for Mallorca. In their last seven visits to Valenciaâs home ground, the island side have managed just one victory. As a result, it would come as no surprise if Mallorca lose their way once again in the Batsâ den.
