World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and veteran star Novak Djokovic have decided to withdraw from the upcoming Montreal Masters, joining a growing list of top players skipping the prestigious hard-court event.
Sinner made his decision following his recent Wimbledon triumph in early July, where he defeated Alexander Zverev to capture the 6th Grand Slam title of his career. The Italian star emphasized the need for rest and physical recovery.
"It is never easy to miss such an important tournament, but prioritizing our health is the right decision. I am very disappointed not to participate and hope to return to Montreal soon," Sinner stated.
Meanwhile, Djokovic's withdrawal comes as no surprise. At 39 years old, the holder of 24 Grand Slam titles continues to manage a selective schedule to maintain peak physical condition.
