British sprinter Amy Hunt overcomes health issues to secure gold in both the 100m and 200m at the European Athletics Championships.

At 24 years of age, British sprint star Amy Hunt delivered a sensational performance at Alexander Stadium, clocking 22.19 seconds to claim gold in the women's 200m and complete a memorable sprint double.

Just three days earlier, Hunt climbed to the top step of the podium in the 100m. This remarkable feat replicates the milestone set by fellow compatriot Dina Asher-Smith at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin, where Asher-Smith swept both individual sprint crowns.

The 200m final came with immense personal adversity. Hunt disclosed that she had battled lingering health struggles earlier this year, particularly severe low blood pressure issues that previously caused her to nearly lose consciousness during training and competition. Despite these hurdles, Hunt executed a clinical race, mastering the bend and holding her speed all the way through the line.

In a thrilling finish, Ireland's Rhasidat Adeleke took the silver medal in 22.28 seconds, while Dina Asher-Smith secured bronze in 22.29 seconds.

Celebrating the triumph, Hunt signaled two fingers for her double gold before showing four fingers, highlighting her ambition to chase a quadruple gold haul with the women's 4x100m and mixed 4x100m relays still ahead.
