Alcaraz admitted to having pre-match doubts about his ability to endure a grueling four or five-set battle after 139 days on the sidelines. However, he quickly settled into a rhythm, saving five of six break points and sealing the win in straight sets.
Looking ahead, Alcaraz will face Jaime Faria in the second round as he chases history, aiming to become the first male player in the Open Era to successfully defend a Grand Slam title across all three surfaces.
