Arsenal's proposed £75 million move for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has encountered a temporary delay due to administrative paperwork issues. Mikel Arteta's side agreed to pay the full £75 million transfer fee upfront without add-ons over a 24-month structured period, which successfully convinced Newcastle to sanction the departure of their club captain.
Despite the paperwork hold-up, the 28-year-old Brazilian international has already completed his medical in London and reportedly took part in his first Arsenal training session on Friday. Guimaraes personally asked Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle for permission to leave during their pre-season camp in Spain before flying directly to London.
French outfit Lyon is set to earn between £7 million and £8 million from the transaction due to a sell-on percentage clause inserted when Newcastle originally signed him for £40 million in January 2022.
